Osteopathic Manual Therapists

Meet the Crew -Christal Geier D.O.M.P, CAT(C), B.Kin Take Flight Osteopathic Wellness

Christal Geier D.O.M.P, CAT(C), B.Kin

Christal grew up in a small farming community in Southern Saskatchewan. As an avid athlete with her share of injuries, she had little assistance from the medical profession available to her in her small town so decided to study Athletic Therapy at Mount Royal College. She wanted not only to understand what was wrong and how to recover but how to prevent injuries in the first place.  She believes rural communities should have access to therapies typically offered only in the city.

Through college she was able to continue with her athletics; both as a competitor and as a therapist. She was a gold medalist Badminton player at MRC and she was able to be on the side lines of many of her favorite sports (including football, hockey, baseball and volleyball) as well as sports she had little experience with (such as field hockey, basketball and judo) throughout university.

After completing her Athletic Therapy diploma from MRC and her Kinesiology degree at the U of C, she continued to work with hockey in both the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Heritage Junior B Hockey League and the Women’s Western Hockey League.

Christal worked as an Athletic Therapist in private practice until requiring knee surgery. At this time, she started to work part-time in the insurance world, primarily working with clients who suffered from injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents. Shortly thereafter, she made the shift into full-time work with an insurance company in the rehabilitation department helping those on long term disability recover and return to work.

This work led her to realize one important flaw. There is a group of people in no-man’s land. People who have pain but no apparent reason for it. People who have inconclusive or negative findings in blood work or diagnostic tests. According to medicine and the insurance world, nothing is wrong with them.  Thus the common reasons for their pain was malfunctions in their pain system in cases of chronic pain, psychosomatic (all in their head) or fraudulent claims.

The other two reasons made little sense. There had to be another explanation.

Christal had learned what she could in the insurance world and was anxious to get back into helping people directly in a clinical setting. After losing her mom to Cancer and her grandmother 6 months later, she learned life was just too short not to be doing what you were meant to do. But the question remained on how to help the population with unexplained pain – she needed to find a solution.

After research into various educational options she found osteopathic manual therapy. A method to understand in more detail the anatomy of the human body and how all parts were interrelated. A method to understand WHY people had pain. She started her osteopathic studies in 2006 at the Canadian College of Osteopathy Vancouver Campus (now called the Canadian School of Osteopathy Manual Practice). She returned to private practice in 2007.

Christal graduated after completing her thesis on vestibular disturbances in the post concussed active population. She continues to be a certified Athletic Therapist and has continued post graduate studies in endocranial spasm work, psycho-neuro-endocrine-immunology, emotional work within the fluids, mechanical link, neuro-kinetic therapy, and energetic work through the medicine wheel.

In January 2019 she opened Take Flight Osteopathic Wellness with the goal of bringing hope to people who feared they’d have to live with the pain for the rest of their lives. To help you, your performance and Life Take Flight.

Meet the Crew - Audrey Tiberio

Audrey Tiberio

Audrey, a recent grad of the Osteopathic Institute of Avignon in France, moved to Canada in December of 2019.

Audrey finds the most fascinating aspect of osteopathy is understanding the origins of people’s tensions and pain; to find the cause rather than treat the symptoms to alleviate the bodies challenges. Seeing what the body does to adapt is intriguing.

Audrey believes our bodies are like layers of an onion. Over the years, we accumulate tensions and imbalances. Then, one day, the alarm sounds, the body can no longer manage these adaptations and pain appears. Our job is to peel back the layers and help the body regain its balance.

As a prior student of Chinese Traditional Medicine, Audrey likes to incorporate this knowledge within her practice.

Outside her osteopathic practice, Audrey enjoys nature, Yoga and dogs!

Corentin Rey D.O.M.P

Corentin grew up in Saint-Chamas, a small town in the South of France near Marseille. As a sports enthusiast, particularly fond of skiing, volleyball, and swimming, Corentin experienced his own share of injuries, which sparked his interest in osteopathic care.

Preferring to avoid medication, he became dedicated to understanding not only how to treat injuries but also how to prevent them effectively. His passion for helping people without the use of drugs led him to study osteopathy at the Osteopathic Institute of Avignon in France.

Throughout his journey, he has combined his love for sports with his osteopathic expertise and understanding of the human body, working in Chamonix with athletes and independently in rural areas of France. His experience as both an athlete and osteopathic manual therapist give him unique insight into the needs of athletes as well as everyday clients.

Corentin arrived in Canada in September 2024, eager to put his skills into practice in rural Alberta.

L Jaye Fisher

Stronghold Massage Therapy

  • Registered Massage Therapist,Graduated from Mount Royal University in 2002 (with Honours)
  • YT200 (trained by Yvonne Werkmann)
  • Reiki Master
  • SuperPatch VoxxLife Independent Healthcare Professional Distributor

Jaye came to the massage therapy profession as an equestrian athlete dealing with injuries in herself and her horses, looking to understand the how/why of rehabilitation. Moving forward, it was that lifelong love of horses that gave her a strong background in the training of classical dressage, for both horse and rider. Early on, she recognized its parallels to the yoga she did as a hobby, so she completed a teacher training program. This pairing has given Jaye a unique perspective on the aims of massage therapy.

By focusing on balancing the musculature to improve function, and using predominantly gentle techniques developed over 22+ years in practice, she is able to perform deep tissue therapy with minimal discomfort.

With a particular specialization in whiplash/cervical strain and repetitive strain recovery, together with her desire to collaborate with other practitioners enables her to achieve success with complex cases. Jaye utilizes multiple modalities in the course of treatment, including kinesiology taping, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, positional release, lymphatic drainage, and is always adding “more tools to her toolbox.”

That commitment to education, both for herself and her clients, has helped Jaye form a multi-layered approach. She believes that when a client understands what is happening in their body, they are more motivated to dedicate themselves to a course of treatment. Next, using feedback from the client themselves, Jaye directs the hands-on therapy with focus on improving and restoring function. Finally, she will suggest movements, exercises, and/or lifestyle adjustments to complement and augment the treatment. This deepens her relationship with the client to better serve their needs and goals for a more functional future.

Appointments available by referral only.

Jenn has over 16 years of experience in the field of massage therapy practicing as an RMT with 2200 hours of training. Prior to her background in massage therapy, she was an assistant trainer for the Viking Men’s Hockey Team of Camrose, Alberta while studying Kinesiology at Augustana College. Not only was this an enjoyable team-like experience, but it also allowed her to expand her technical knowledge while working alongside the team’s physiotherapist, doctor, and massage therapist.

This was when she realized her calling.

She needed to pick a carrier path that entailed helping people while empowering and equipping them with the knowledge to help them, help themselves. Jenn’s love for competitive sport, both playing and helping those involved in sport, shaped who she is today empowering her to better herself, not only for herself, but her clientele as well.

Initially Jenn started out in a chiropractic office before branching out to work in a spa setting. She started her own successful practice in her hometown of Three Hills, AB where she practiced for 14 years.

Why leave a successful practice and join Take Flight you might ask?

Love…

She married and moved to the area in the summer. Now that she is settled and established family wise, she felt it time to get back to doing what she is passionate about, something that feeds her soul. Working with her clientele to help achieve Osana.  Promoting the lifestyle of health, prosperity, and happiness, “Wellness for Life”.

Jenn’s years of experience have led her in the direction of a constant thirst for knowledge, always wanting to know more. Helping people fills her cup, therefore, picking and choosing her courses according to her client’s specific needs and benefits helped to guide her post grad education. Throughout her years of experience she has built up her knowledge and skill base in Hot Stone Massage, Massage Relating to Cancer Patient Care and Cupping Therapy. Along with many other therapeutic techniques she has acquired through the years she combines these skills to help tailor her massages to each client’s individual needs.

Yoga Therapy

Yvonne Werkmann

Yvonne’s earliest memories include creating, playing, teaching and otherwise being a rather odd child. One of her best friends was a young tree whom entertained me for hours on end with poetry, art and storytelling.

Now she gets to play as Yoga teacher, triathlete, writer, artist, Intentional Creativity teacher, and Vedic Priest. She sees herself as a modern renaissance woman, and to be proud of being an even more odd adult. She is blessed to use all of these tools in a variety of ways to entertain herself and continue to grow.

Yvonne-Werkmann

With joy comes healing. Her goal to spread joy. Supporting people as they build the skills of joy making. With those skills they can create joy for themselves and others in their lives. Then they can move forward to wherever they are called.

Yvonne’s classes, workshops and retreats provide a safe place to play, explore and experience new ways to express self. Students can expect to unravel mind, body and spirit while having fun and challenging old patterns.

The deepest joy arises when the people she connects with play with these tools and discover their own Wisdom. She beleives we can all uncover our own power to make change and bring joy to the lives of our beloveds. This is how peace grows.

Join Yvonne in her joy revolution; where her goal is to inspire you, to inspire others, who will inspire others.

Midwifery

Meet the Crew - Audrey Tiberio

 Kate Kennedy – Midwifery

My name is Kate Kennedy, and I am thrilled to join you on your pregnancy journey. I began my own journey towards becoming a midwife in 2007, when my first daughter was born into the hands of midwives. The entire pregnancy and birth helped me realize that people can be better served in a maternity care system when caregivers listen to clients and present them with the information they need to make decisions that are right for them and their families. This felt revolutionary to me at that time, and it was the first time I had ever considered a career in a medical field.
By the time my second daughter was born in our bedroom while her sister slept, I was sure I wanted to be a midwife and help other families experience the warm, competent, relationship focused care that I had received. I knew it would be difficult to go back to school with young babies, so I enjoyed my time as a mother and the owner of my own landscaping business, while I volunteered and sat on the board
of local parenting and birth related non-profits. I have collected thousands of birth stories, and I can see the patterns that develop in parenthood that
stem back to feeling empowered and supported in birth~or not! Now that my children (and their long time friends) are in the teen phase, I understand how finding a supportive village makes a huge difference in our long-term relationship with our children.

My passions lie in holistic care. Outside of my midwifery schooling, I have studied parenting and infant communication, natural systems of healing such as herbalism and homeopathy, positioning and rebozo work in pregnancy and birth, as well as the human gut biome. I graduated in the spring of 2020 from Mount Royal University’s Bachelor of Midwifery program. Additionally, I have completed workshops in “Spinning Babies”, rebozo, homeopathy and attachment parenting, and took specialized training in physiologic vaginal breech birth through the University of British Columbia, as well as the “Breech without Borders” training. My philosophy of birth is that it is a beautiful, transformative rite of passage, that only occasionally requires emergency skills. I am there to walk beside you on your journey, and while my job is to explain to you the options and the evidence behind them, your job is to choose what is right for you, your baby and your family.

When I’m not busy catching babies and supporting clients, I enjoy spending time with my children, our many pets, and growing as many vegetables, fruit and flowers that I possibly can in our short season. I love spending time in nature, having long chatty dinners out with friends, as well as cooking, canning and eating delicious food at home. Having grown up in Sundre, I love practicing in Central Alberta. I look forward to meeting you and being your midwife!

Sincerely,

Kate Kennedy

Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture

and Craniosacral Therapy

Meet the Crew - Audrey Tiberio

Dr. Lori Harris R.Ac, TCMD

Lori grew up on farm in central Alberta and through several personal health problems she began her journey into medicine. Over the years, that journey led her to discover CranioSacral Therapy and she began training at the Upledger Institute in 1998.

She is currently an experienced CranioSacral Therapist offering both CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release in her practice and offers her skills as a Teaching Assistant with the Upledger Institute. She has a special fondness and interest in working with pediatrics and hopes to encompass work with service dogs into her future plans.

It was through her work with the Upledger Institute that Lori became more involved in Acupuncture and thus led to furthering her education. In 2005 Lori graduated from the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine with diplomas in both Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Lori has been practicing in the Olds/Didsbury area for 13 years and is pleased to offer patient specific treatments that focus on whole body wellness. She believes that by seeing the body she a whole, she is able to tailor treatments to each patient’s needs. By treating the root of imbalances in the body she is able to resolve many of the symptoms that brought patients to their current level of disease.

Sound Wellness

Natalie Stuber

500hr YT, Certified Sound Wellness practitioner.

I was first introduced to yoga about 10 years ago after sustaining an injury at work. What I found was completely unexpected, but very much welcomed. I was able to find relief from my pain and found a deep sense of relaxation which also aided in the management of my autoimmune disorder. I have found that coming back to my mat time and time again gave me the permission I needed to take time out for myself. Yoga has affected my life in ways that I never imagined possible. So much so, that I was moved to take my 200hr yoga teacher training. I have since gone on to take my 300hr training as well. This journey has led me to seek out alternative ways of creating calm in the body and the mind. I have recently earned my certification as a Sound Wellness Practioner. There are so many facets to both Yoga and Sound Wellness that I will forever be a student of both practices and will always be willing to share my knowledge with anyone that is interested or in need.
