What should I expect my first visit?
Once you have booked an appointment with one of our therapists you will receive an intake and detailed health history question form. Please complete it to the best of your abilities, Even if you think the item that comes to mind with the questions is innocuous, add it, you would be surprised what it might mean to us. Even if you think your description of what you are experiencing is odd, write it out, likely we will understand it. Bring with you or email prior to your appointment any x-ray, MRI reports etc. so we can add them to your digital file.
Please wear or bring with you to your appointment comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. We do recommend shorts and a t-shirt/tank top.
In your initial visit we will go through your completed health history form and continue with a detailed history with you in person. You will be asked to stand so we can observe how you stand and move as part of our assessment. You may be asked to move in a seated position, and we may assess your mobility in laying on your stomach and back. We will feel how your head moves and may place a hand under your buttocks to feel how your sacrum moves too.
We will do our best to explain our findings and what we are working on; if there are ever questions, just ask; we are happy to answer them.
You may feel very little of what we are doing and yet you may feel everything; that often depends on you, what you have been struggling with, what kind of pain you are blocking, and may change from session to session.
Results are individuated based on what your body has presented and the work we have been able to do with you. Although you may feel amazing after your initial visit, there are occasions in which you feel worse for a few days. There may be aches and pains that come and go or something that you suffered from years ago that returns. Sometimes it is just the unravelling of the layers of the years of adaptations we have to work through. Sometimes your body does not yet have the stamina to maintain the changes. Ultimately side effects do become less frequent and intense as more sessions occur.

How many sessions? Frequency of visits?
The frequency and number of sessions is very individual to you, your needs and how you respond to our care. You may only need one session to resolve much of challenges or you may need many. As many of our clients say, Rome was not built in a day.
Typically, frequency of visits is much different than what you might be used to.We might ask you to come back in a week or two. We might ask you to come back in 4-6 weeks.
The reason for this is the fact that your body has the ability to heal itself. Your body can continue to see changes for up to three months after one session. Adjusting the tissues towards the normal allows the body to unwind adaptations on its own. Allowing the body to do what it can on its own allows us to see where the body continues to struggle, provide a bit more assistance and allow further changes towards health.
